CSI Weekly - What's Happening
in CSI Today
Why
take the CDT exam?
The CDT exam gives you a conceptual understanding of construction,
and concrete skills in construction documentation. Pass the CDT
exam, and you’ll join an elite group of professionals known
in the industry for their comprehensive knowledge of the writing
and administration of construction documents. No matter what you
do in construction, the CDT is the program for you!
Getting your CDT means:
- Adding “CDT” after your name, to your business
card and to your resume
- Understanding how a project unfolds from conception to delivery
- Understanding the documentation involved
As one member of CSI’s LinkedIn
Group explained it: “I certainly feel it has given me
more confidence... Actually, more than anything, I can honestly
say the CDT showed me how much I didn't know. I thought I knew
this industry fairly well, but without the PRM and the local
study classes given by Mitch Miller here in Easton, PA, no
way I could have passed. I'd personally encourage anyone to pursue
this designation … the knowledge you gain across the entire
building life-cycle process has a substantial value, and as the
economy picks up, no doubt it will help set you apart from the
pack and open doors.”

Why CSI Offers the CDT Exam
CSI has been using the CDT program to train architects, contractors,
contract administrators, specifiers, and manufacturers’
representatives in the fundamentals of construction documentation
for more than 30 years. It’s the foundation you need to
gain a competitive advantage.
As the cornerstone of CSI's certification program, it's also prerequisite
to CSI’s advanced certification exams: Certified Construction
Specifier (CCS), Certified Construction Contract Administrator
(CCCA), or Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR)
certification.
